A sarreta corre de proa à popa, paralela ao forro da borda. As aposturas foram entalhadas para receber a sarreta. Assenta sobre o topo da apostura e sobre o lado superior da sarreta, no interior, bem como sobre o lado superior do forro e do cintão, no exterior. Para fixar o talabardão usa-se cola de madeira e as peças ficam provisoriamente fixas com alfinetes de sinalização, já que estes não danificam a madeira, não rompem as fibras da mesma.
